Bamboo Court Retreat
A restored Naxi-style courtyard nestled in the ancient town of Lijiang, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hand-carved wooden lattices frame every doorway; stone pathways wind through bamboo groves to pavilions where old men play weiqi in the afternoon light. From the rooftop, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain fills the northern sky. The property employs 12 local Naxi craftspeople — some of whose families have worked the land here for five generations.

"Waking up here and hearing the bamboo rustle while Jade Dragon Snow Mountain turns pink in the dawn light is one of those travel memories that stays with you for life. The Naxi tea master came to our room each morning. Extraordinary."
"The carving on the window frames alone is worth the trip. Each motif tells a story — our guide explained all of them. Staff remembered our names immediately and the breakfast spread featured local Naxi grains and herbs I'd never encountered."
"A magical property. The Jade Pavilion has its own courtyard garden where I practiced tai chi at dawn. Only mild criticism: the Wi-Fi in the pavilion is weak — but honestly, you don't come here to be connected to the internet."
